Youth Rowing Program

The Youth program is available to male and female rowers under 21 years of age and typically involves school leavers in their first and second year out of school*. It aims to continue the enjoyment of school age rowing whilst also providing the opportunity to compete at higher levels if desired. These opportunities include trialling for the Victorian State Youth Team that competes at the Interstate Regatta as part of the Australian National Championships, and the Australian U21 and U23 Teams. MUBC has a proud history of numerous Youth athletes representing Victoria since the inception of the Youth Team in 2002. Many MUBC Youth athletes have gone on to represent Australia and won both World Championship and Olympic medals.

The Youth program also has established links with many overseas universities, with several Youth athletes going on to study and row at some of the best performing rowing universities in America such as Princeton, Harvard and Yale.
Rick vanHooydonk coordinates the Youth Men’s program and Annabelle Eaton coordinates the Youth Women’s program. Both bring a host of coaching experience to MUBC having worked at some of Melbourne’s best performing rowing schools for many years.
