World Rowing Championships

MUBC at the 2026 World Rowing Championships 

Melbourne University Boat Club was proudly represented by seven athletes across five Australian crews at the 2026 World Rowing Championships in Amsterdam, with our athletes producing a series of outstanding international performances.

Held on the famous Bosbaan from 24–30 August, the Championships brought together 814 athletes from 64 nations, with the world’s best rowers battling for World Championship honours.

🥉 Men’s Eight — 3rd - Rohan Lavery & Harry Manton

Rohan Lavery and Harry Manton were part of an incredible Australian Men’s Eight that claimed Bronze, securing MUBC a place on the World Championship podium.

The final was one of the highlights of the regatta, with the first three crews all breaking the previous world-best time. Australia crossed the line in 5:18.28, finishing third behind the Netherlands and Great Britain.

4th — Women’s Quadruple Sculls - Romy Cantwell & Jean Mitchell

Romy Cantwell and Jean Mitchell raced their way to an impressive 4th place in the Women’s Quadruple Sculls.

The Australian crew progressed through the heats and semi-final to secure a place in the A-Final, where they finished fourth in 6:18.04, just outside the medals.

Also a special mention to Sara de Uray who travelled as the reserve. 

7th — Women’s Eight - Eliza Gaffney & Georgie Gleeson

Eliza Gaffney and Georgie Gleeson represented Australia in the Women’s Eight, finishing 7th overall.

After narrowly missing the A-Final, the Australian crew produced a strong performance to win the B-Final and finish seventh at the World Championships.

8th — Women’s Pair - Katie Easton

Katie Easton competed in the Women’s Pair, finishing 8th overall. The Australian pair progressed through the tightly contsested regatta to compete in the B-Final, securing eighth place overall.

10th — Men’s Four - Ben Canham

Ben Canham represented Australia in the Men’s Four, finishing 10th overall after competing through the heats and subsequent finals.

A huge achievement for MUBC

With Eight MUBC athletes competing across five Australian crews, the 2026 World Rowing Championships were another significant milestone for the Club.

From a World Championship bronze medal in the Men’s Eight to four further crews finishing inside the top ten, our athletes demonstrated both depth and quality rowing.
