The University of Melbourne’s Elite Athlete Program is recognised amongst the best in the country and can provide support to emerging and elite student-athletes. The program includes an Elite Athlete Entry Scheme for additional consideration for recognised elite student-athletes seeking to study at the University; flexible study assistance for recognised elite student-athletes competing at state and/or national level; annual sport scholarship support ranging from $1,400 to $15,000; and international travel grants of up to $1,000 to assist with the costs of Australian representation.

Melbourne University Boat Club members are well supported by the Elite Athlete Program which assists with approved study leaves of absence while rowers at away at national championships, trials and when representing the Club, University and Australia at overseas regattas. Club greats including Kim Crow, Cameron McKenzie-McHarg, James Marburg, Alice McNamara, Phoebe Stanley and Josh Booth have been past recipients of sport scholarships, as have emerging rowers such as George Ellis, Sam Hookway and Club Captain Hedda Cooper.
